Text cut in an image

November 22, 2007

Step 1 Open a new window, having width=350pixels and height=200pixels

Step 2 Select Text Tool (T). Now type something. I write FRUIT using font family Arial Black and I set the font size to 100 pixels.

Step 3 Select Image -> Free Transform. Drag from text selection corners to have an expanded image. This way we will have the work area covered, like in the image below:

Step 4 Now open the wanted image for the background. File->Open->select the wanted file->Ok

Step 5 Keep the two windows open like in the image below, select Move Tool (V) and now drag the image in the document in which we write keeping the Shift key pressed (for centering the image in the document).

Step 6 In our document we will have three layers: the background layer, the “fruit” text layer and layer1 (with the image).

Step 7 Having Layer 1 selected go to Layers -> Create Clipping Mask and you will obtain something similar with the image below:

That’s all! Enjoy ;)
