Blur Animation with ImageReady

March 1, 2008

1. Type on two different layers some different text. Be careful to have transparent layers.

2. Duplicate the text first layer (Layer > Duplicate Layer). On the copy I want to add the Blur filter so go to Filters > Blur > Motion Blur (Angle : 0; Distance : 25)

3. Repeat the second step for the other text layer.

4. Open Animation Window and click the black triangle in the animation Palette (Marked with red) and select “Make Frames from Layers“. Now delete the first blank frame.

5. Drag the fourth frame on the third position. Now duplicate the third layer and drag it on the fifth position. We need one last frame: duplicate the second layer and drag it on the last position. You can see that I wanted to obtain a continuous image using the blur frames as intermediate. Notice that I marked with green the Duplicates current frame button.

6. Set the timings for frames. Hit the arrow marked with blue and choose the time like in the image.

7. Set the number of time you want to play the animation. I choose forever as you can see below the first frame.

8. Check the performance in the browser: File > Preview In > Click the browser you want or hit the button in the Tools Palette.

9. Save the document: File > Save Optimized As and choose the .gif extension. For saving the source go to File > Save and keep the .psd extension.

Here is the animation:
